CHRISTMAS comes early in Dunfermline this year as The Shambolics look to sell-out Lourenzos with a “massive gig”.

The last time they had a festive headliner in the town it was a packed night in PJ Molloy’s on Black Friday.

The venue was bouncing as fans jumped the barrier and joined the four-piece on stage for a night of ‘utter madness’.

Based in Dunfermline, the band now have their eyes set on Saturday December 1, and selling-out Lourenzos in St Margaret Street.

Darren Forbes (vocals/guitar) told Press:ON: “We’ve been planning this massive gig for a long time.

“Dunfermline has a great music scene and we felt this was the right option.

“We’re 100 per cent confident that we’ll sell-out.

“It’s still been just days since tickets went on sale, and we’re already nearly halfway there.

“It’s been great for us to see that and it’ll look good to future promoters.”

He continued: “People usually panic and buy tickets at the last minute, but I think they realise they’re going to need to buy them early so they don’t miss out.”

Their fanbase is a devoted one, with many inking in their love for the indie-rockers and making the journey from England for the gig.

“We never expected to have fans getting our lyrics tattooed on themselves,” Darren said.

“To us, they were just words on a page that we wrote in our bedrooms.

“Now, people will have these lyrics on them for the rest of their lives. It’s mental.

“We can’t thank them enough for supporting us.

“We’ve had great crowds everywhere we’ve went. Glasgow has been amazing to us and we’ve had great nights in England, too.

“And for Dunfermline to be such a small town, the scene is one of the best in Scotland.

“I was talking to Calum Traynor (PJ Molloys, Weekend Revolution) recently, and he said it’s the best state it’s been in for years.

“I completely agree. You just look at the names that have arrived in the town in the past five years, it’s unbelievable.

“And for this Lourenzos gig, we have people coming up from the likes of London and Liverpool to see us. The support has been amazing.”

The ‘Shams’ formed at the end of 2015 and it’s been one momentum-building turn after another.

They’ve played at the Reading and the Isle of Wight festivals, released singles to public and critical acclaim and honed their talents with gigs up and down the country.

They won last year’s SAMAs (Scottish Alternative Music Awards) ‘Best Rock/Alternative’ act, travelled overseas for a tour of Germany and last month sold-out the iconic King Tut’s in Glasgow.

And Darren, Lewis McDonald, Jordan McHatton and Dominic Hardy are showing no signs of stopping.

Darren added: “We have a lot of stuff in the pipeline and we’re on the right path.

“We always think we can do better.

“You can expect to see new music from us by the end of the year.”
