A MAN caught behind the wheel after drinking alcohol was warned he could have killed someone.

Sheriff Lindsay Wood told Eddy Christopher: "You're a nuisance on the road."

The 46-year-old was initially pulled over on Garscube Road at around 11.15pm on February 25 last year. At Stewart Street police station, the accused refused to provide two samples of breath to ascertain his ability to drive or the proportion of alcohol in his system. Christopher continually inhaled and covered the tube.

He was arrested for his behaviour and, during checks, it was discovered he was driving without insurance.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court this week, Sheriff Wood asked defence agent Marisa Borland what her client's "issue was".

Mrs Borland replied: "He obviously drinks too much and drives."

The accused was said to have since relinquished his licence due to an epilepsy problem.

Christopher, of Blythswood Court, was disqualified from driving for 48 months and had his licence endorsed. He was also tagged for four months, in which he will have to remain at home between the hours of 9.30pm and 6am.

Sheriff Wood stated that it was "not clever" to drive after drinking, adding: "You could kill someone."

He then granted the Crown's motion for the forfeiture of Christopher's car.
