A DUNFERMLINE man was more than four times over the limit when he lost control of his car and smashed into another vehicle.
Andrew Gray, 52, of Pitcorthie Drive, was fined £1,200 and banned from driving for two years at Dunfermline Sheriff Court
He previously admitted that on July 19, on the A985 Cairneyhill to Rosyth road, he drove a car carelessly, failed to keep the vehicle under control, caused it to mount a grass verge, re-enter the carriageway and collide with another car, causing damage to it.
He also admitted that he drove having consumed excess alcohol. His reading was 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 22 microgrammes.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said that at 6.25pm, witnesses saw the car being driven by Gray mounting a grass verge, go through a junction then collide with another vehicle.
Following the collision, people were trapped in the other car.
Defence solicitor Barbara Collie said her client had gone to a pub to use the wi-fi for work purposes but met a colleague and alcohol was consumed.
The court heard Gray had a previous drink-drive conviction from 2005.
Sheriff Alison McKay said, “This was a high reading.”
