THIS year's Outwith Festival in Dunfermline has received backing from stage and screen star Michael Sheen.

The actor has endorsed the five-day festival in September which will see comedy, entertainment, arts and live music come to the town.

In a video that will appear before crowds attending the Dunfermline Filmhouse as part of the packed programme, he praised the work of the Carnegie UK Trust.

The trust is based in Dunfermline and has worked with the 49-year-old on his campaign to promote more affordable ways to borrow money.

He said: "As some of you may know, earlier this year, I launched the End High Cost Credit Alliance as part of a campaign to end exploitative, high cost credit practices and business across the UK, and try to get a fairer deal for people who need it the most.

"One of the most important partner organisations that I've been working with is the Carnegie UK Trust, who are based locally in Dunfermline.

"They've been doing amazing work around this issue to end high cost credit locally, in Scotland and across the UK. I'm very proud to be associated with them.

"I'm also very proud to say welcome to the (Outwith) festival.

"The festival after last year has got bigger and better. The film festival has some fantastic films; classics like The Red Shoes, and modern classics, like Lady Macbeth.

"There's amazing people to come and talk about them as well so make sure you get to see that as well.

"Relax, sit back, enjoy the films and enjoy the rest of Outwith Festival 2018."

The brochure for the festival launched on Friday, with live bands performing at Fire Station Creative.
