POLICE have named the 38-year-old woman killed in a two-car smash on the outskirts of Saline last week.

Michelle Russell  from Alva, Clackmannanshire, sustained serious injuries after her Vauxhall Astra collided with a trailer, which was being towed by a Land Rover Discovery, at the Saline Hotel last Thursday, August 30.

Emergency services raced to the hotel on the B913 at around 10am and she was pronounced dead at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Michelle's family said: "Michelle was a loved daughter, sister and aunty.

"We will miss her so much and would appreciate complete privacy for the family."

Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this collision are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward. 

Sergeant Ewan Pearce from Fife's Road Policing Unit said: "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies remain with Michelle's family at this very difficult time and our inquiries into the full circumstances of this collision continue.

"If you were on the B913 road at the Saline Hotel at around 10am on Thursday and witnessed what happened, or have any other information relevant to our investigation, then please contact police immediately."
