A man has been arrested in connection with threatening behaviour against a schoolgirl in Oakley. 

The 34-year-old was due to appear before Dunfermline Sheriff Court yesterday (Thursday). 

Police say the offences were reported to have taken place on three occasions between August 15 and 28, when the girl was allegedly sworn and shouted at.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We have arrested a man in connection with threatening behaviour against a schoolgirl in the Oakley area of Dunfermline.

"The offences were reported to have taken place on three occasions between 15th and 28th August, when the girl was allegdly sworn and shouted at.

"The 34-year-old has been detained in police custody and will appear before Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Thursday 30th August. 

"We'd remind the public to exercise caution when discussing this case on social media.

"It is against the law to name, or to suggest the identity of, a child victim of crime while legal proceedings are active.

"It can also be considered Contempt of Court to name a person as being guilty of a crime before a case has concluded.

"Please do not risk putting yourself on the wrong side of the law."
