A DUNFERMLINE mum has paid tribute to the “apple of everyone’s eye” after the death of her son.

Murray McManus died in his sleep last Tuesday, September 4, at the age of 30.

His mum, June, said her ‘Muz’ was a”special boy with a great heart” and shared a gorgeous connection with his two-year-old son, Rhuaridh.

She told the Press: “He told me recently that if he could afford it, he would stop working forever and spend every day of his life with Rhuaridh.

"He would be at his absolute happiest spending every day just having fun with Rhuaridh.

“Murray was the apple of everyone’s eye. He always had that sparkle in his eye. He was very loved by his friends and he loved a good laugh. He was a very smiley boy.”

Murray was a highly-skilled joiner and had worked in Bond Street in London last year carrying out high-end shop fittings with one of his two brothers, Ryan.

June held a get-together at her home recently for everyone to share stories of their time with ‘Muz’.

“I wanted to do that so all his friends could be able to feel relaxed and to speak about Murray,” she commented. “We shared good stories about our boy. It felt like Murray was with us.

“He had such lovely friends and they all told me how much he was loved. I’ve always known that Murray was special.”

His friends have set up have a fundraising page online to help with funeral costs and June was touched by the gesture, adding: “The boys all individually spoke to me and said they all wanted to do the fundraising. I think it’s a totally fantastic and beautiful thing for them to do.”

Dunfermline band Wolves played a gig in Monty’s last week and dedicated their set to Murray.

June added: “He loved a laugh and a good tune. He also loved to fish. He would spend hours fishing with his brothers and they would go on little boat trips. He loved it.

“When my boys (Ryan, Jamie and Murray) were all wee, we travelled everywhere with the fishing rods. We liked to go to Dunning Glen a lot, that was the most-loved place for us all. The boys took a picnic and their rods, and although they never really caught anything, they loved being there together.”

His funeral will take place at Dunfermline Crematorium next Thursday, September 20 at 11.30am.
