CHAMPAGNE corks were popping on one street in Dunfermline over the weekend as five neighbours scooped a £210,000 lottery win.

Their postcode of KY11 4XH won the People’s Postcode Lottery on Saturday.

Three of the Kinnis Court neighbours netted £30,000 each, while the remaining two doubled their cash prize to £60,000 each, thanks to playing with two tickets.

One of the lucky double ticket holders was warehouse manager John Taylor, 59.

On discovering how much he’d won he exclaimed: “This has surpassed my wildest expectations! My wife Grace and I just had our fifth wedding anniversary yesterday, so we’ve got two reasons to celebrate now – I’m elated.”

The couple would love to take their family on the trip of a lifetime with the winnings.

John said: “We have six children between us and we’re foster parents to three more, so it would be great to get all the family together and go to Disney World in Florida and make lots of memories together.

"I’ve also got a friend who runs a charity supporting homeless people, so I’ll make sure that it benefits from the win too.”

Mum-of-one Sara Smith, 37, was delighted with her cheque for £30,000 and is also planning a family holiday to the Sunshine State.

She said: “We’ve never had the opportunity to go on family holiday abroad, so it’s spectacular that I’ll now be able to take my husband Barry and our nine-year-old daughter to Florida.

"I also live with multiple sclerosis and am unable to work so this win will make a massive difference to us. It’s such a wonderful surprise I feel like I’m dancing on the sun just now.”

Elaine Ferguson, 58, who works as a supermarket demonstrator, was also on the winning street.

She said: “This is terrific and will definitely make life easier for myself and my husband Kelvin when we retire.

"However, I’ll also be making sure my son, daughter and the immediate family get spoiled too. It’s so nice to win alongside all my neighbours – I’ve known John for over 30 years! I’ll definitely be having a few drinks to celebrate tonight.”

The remaining winners weren’t available to collect their cheques but the prize will be paid into their bank account.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson presented the winners with their cheques and said: “I’ve had the most amazing time handing out lots of cash to our Kinnis Court winners in Dunfermline – what a lovely bunch they are. Disney World is definitely going to be busy with People’s Postcode Lottery winners!”

With a minimum of 32 per cent from every ticket going to charity, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have now raised £340 million for more than 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

One charity close to the winners that players have supported is Options in Life, which was awarded £8,000 last year to expand its skills development and training initiative for isolated adults with learning disabilities.
