Fife Council told the Press they would "reiterate" their expectations of employees after it appeared that a worker was taking a nap on the job.
A worker was snapped resting in a van and it was thought they had been putting their feet up for several hours.
However, Ross Grieve, Commercial Manager, said: “We’d like to reassure local people that this employee was on a rest period. He had been working earlier in the day, in the knowledge that employees would not continue to work at heights due to the worsening of storm Ali.
“Due to safety reasons employees were restricted from working at heights in the afternoon.”
“There aren’t any rules around resting during breaks in council vehicles. However, we are aware that this does not present a positive image of the council, and of our committed employees, so we will use this as an opportunity to reiterate our expectations to employees.”
@FifeCouncil Not sure what we pay our Council Tax for, but it's certainly not so your men can sit sleeping in their van. Arrived at 12:45, and still there as I type. They may also have there this morning for at least an hour (almost certain was them). Rex Park, Dunfermline pic.twitter.com/49nqfuckuJ
