A WEST Fife road is currently closed while emergency services tackle a bus fire.

Police Scotland have confirmed that the B981 between Crossgates and Inverkeithing is shut because of the incident.

Posting on Fife Police's Twitter page, they stated: "The B981 between Crossgates and Inverkeithing, Dunfermline, is currently closed due to a bus on fire.

"Emergency services are in attendance."

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "At around 2.40pm on Monday, 28 November, 2022, we were called to a report of a bus on fire on the B981 between Crossgates and Inverkeithing.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance and the road is closed."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said four fire crews were at the scene and have now left.

“We were alerted at 2.34pm on Monday, 28 November to reports of a bus on fire between Crossgates and Fordell on the B981," said the spokesperson. 

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and crews quickly extinguished the fire. 

"There no reported casualties and firefighters left the scene once ensuring the area was made safe."
