A TEMPORARY road closure will be in place at a busy interchange in Inverkeithing until at least Friday. 

The works start this evening (Monday) and Fife Council said the southbound lane from Chapel East roundabout to Chapel West roundabout will be shut. 

The closure will also extend around 60 metres south from the Chapel West roundabout into Chapel Place.

The telecom works, to be carried out by Utility Construction Ltd, will take place every night from 7pm until 6am the following morning.

They are scheduled to finish on the morning of Friday March 15 or until earlier completion of the job. 

The Chapel West roundabout is at the northern edge of Inverkeithing and the main route into the town, it also links to the A921 road to Dalgety Bay and the B981 towards Dunfermline and Crossgates. 

The alternative route for vehicular traffic is via the A921, Hillend Road, Boreland Road and Chapel Place.

Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and residents will be maintained.

A separate order has also been published on the council's website with work due to start up again in the same place from Monday March 25 to Wednesday March 27.
