Kevin has been his mum’s carer for the past eleven years, during which time she sadly developed vascular dementia. Kevin was also diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in January, so he has been unable to continue caring for his mum.

Frank and his daughter Louise stepped in to cover caring duties at the last minute travelling from Airdrie daily, and there was also support from carers through Fife Council.

The family has been supported by Shirley-Ann Somerville MSP and Councillor Gordon Pryde during this time.

Anne has been in temporary respite care at a nursing home in Methil while Kevin receives cancer treatment.

The care home arranged a celebration of Anne’s 90th birthday where her friends and family were able to celebrate the momentous occasion with her.
