Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said that England was questioned at a disciplinary meeting about suspicions he was stealing items.
There were items going missing when he was on his shift and he was asked to empty his pockets.
He pulled out an iPhone 14 which looked brand new but he initially claimed it belonged to him.
Defence solicitor Graham Inch said: “He seems to have become involved in an enterprise involving theft. He was moving items from a secure part of site to another part.”
The court was told England is now working as a bus driver.
Sheriff Garry Sutherland imposed a community payback order with 140 hours of unpaid work.
