AN NHS Fife Patient Focus Group on "using jellyfish, beer and fancy microscopes" to better understand diabetes will take place next weekend.
The special information event, which has been organised by diabetes patients in partnership with NHS Fife Diabetes MCN Staff, is open to people in Fife with all types of diabetes, their families, and carers.
Ian Sloan, Diabetes Fife website administrator, said: “This is an essential event for all adults in Fife with diabetes.
"A wide range of topics essential to your health will be covered and I am confident you will come away from the session with a better understanding of your long-term health condition.”
The session will include presentations on medications, foot care, diabetes and mental health, eye screening, My Diabetes-My Way platform and new technology for Type 1 diabetes.
The main speaker, Professor Gwyn Gould of Strathclyde University, will tell attendees all about “using jellyfish, beer and fancy microscopes to study insulin action and understand diabetes”.
As well as the presentations in the Education Centre there will be information stands on all sorts of aspects of diabetes and health care.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 11, in the Education Centre of Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy from 9.30am to 1.15pm.
