BUDDING bookworms at Blairhall Primary have been enjoying a bumper donation of new reading material.

Dunfermline MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville visited the school recently and dropped off some new books.

She was given a tour of the school before reading to some of the pupils.

Better World Books - which is based in Dunfermline - also supported the visit by supplying a collection of books to be distributed to the school.

"Getting out to local schools is probably my favourite part of the job as MSP and it was lovely to get a chance to read some stories to the kids," said Ms Somerville.

"I truly believe that books have the power to transform lives and I am always delighted to support any initiatives that will get more books into the hands of young people.

"By fostering a culture of reading from a young age, we can empower our children to dream big and pursue those dreams with confidence.

"A huge thank you also to Better World Books for their donation, which was very warmly received by pupils and staff at Blairhall Primary."

A spokesperson for Better World Books added: "We were delighted to support Shirley-Anne's donation of books to Blairhall Primary School.

"Better World Books remains committed to supporting local community initiatives regarding education, literacy, and access to information."
