STAFF and customers at Dunfermline's Primark were thrilled to get a visit from a very special guest yesterday (Monday).

Sammy the Tammy went along to the High Street store yesterday to help the team kick off their fundraising efforts for UNICEF's Soccer Aid.

Rachael Hunter, the team manager at the Dunfermline branch, told the Press: "The money raised this year will support UNICEF’s vital work with families, communities and trusted organisations to create and protect safe spaces for children to play. UNICEF works to protect children from disease and malnutrition and respond in times of crisis.

"As a company, our target is to raise £400,000 - and £2000 within our store."

To help them get to their target they have organised a number of fundraising events and have already started to receive support from the community.

Rachael continued: "During the bank holiday weekend we collected donations from our customers, raising over £500. We also had a special visit from Sammy the Tammy who was in the store.

"Our colleagues are fundraising by having a quiz night and a five-a-side football tournament in which each colleague will gain sponsorships, this will take place on Friday May 31, and Sammy the Tammy will be attending again.

"The local community has generously helped us, including Dunfermline Athletic FC, Queen Anne High School, The Haberdashery Bistro, Adventure Golf Dunfermline and Wendy’s Barbers."

This year's Soccer Aid will see international sporting legends and top celebrities will battle it out on Sunday, June 9 at Stamford Bridge, London.

From May 30 until June 9, customers at Dunfermline's Primark will be able to show their support and donate at the till collection points.
