ACROBAY Gymnastics Club have been handed a £100,000 funding boost by Fife Council.

A meeting of the South West Fife Area Committee today (Wednesday) agreed to allocate the six-figure sum for the club to purchase moveable gymnastics equipment.

Acrobay, who have an active membership of 217, are in the process of relocating to a new premises in Primrose Lane, Rosyth, with help and support from the council having outgrown their original venue of hired use at Dalgety Bay Sports and Leisure Centre.

Funding for the club is also being sought from Sportscotland to help with improvements to the new premises.

Councillor Bobby Clelland, chair of South West Fife Area Committee, said: "We're only too pleased to be able to support this club. Improved facilities for physical activity and sport are a key priority for the council as is our commitment to promote health and wellbeing opportunities for the clubs and the wider communities.

"This club is successfully introducing youngsters to gymnastics from grass roots introduction to physical activity from a young age right through to opportunities for participation and performance. This funding will reap many benefits in the future."
