THREE schoolgirls from Dalgety Bay turned their birthday bash into a generous fundraising appeal in aid of Sport Relief.
Kind-hearted Ellie McInnes, Holly Myers and Jayne Hamilton celebrated their 10th birthdays with a difference this year by holding a joint party and inviting guests to make a donation to the charity instead of giving gifts.
Ellie turned 10 on March 15, while Holly and Jayne shared a birthday on March 18, and the Donibristle Primary pupils invited more than 40 of their friends and relatives to a disco at Dalgety Bay Sailing Club to celebrate.
Thanks to the party-goers bringing pounds instead of presents, the girls managed to raise £350 and were delighted with the response.
Kerry Myers, mum of Holly, said: "They came up with the idea themselves and all of the P5 class came. We were just astounded by everyone's generosity.
"The nearer it got to the day, we started to wonder if they'd change their minds about not getting presents but of course they didn't!
"The cash raised on the night was £350 and there were also people who told us they made online donations.
"The girls were really pleased, they couldn't believe how generous their friends had been. They still got cards and had a really good night, they all realised what they were doing it for."
