POLICE in Fife are appealing for witnesses after a church building in Dalgety Bay was vandalised.

The incident happened some time between 4pm on Saturday, April 30, and 10am on Tuesday, May 3 at the Donibristle Chapel.

A local resident was passing the area and noticed the building had been covered in graffiti using spray paint.

Officers have since been conducting various lines of inquiry to trace those responsible and anyone who can assist with their investigation is asked to come forward.

Sergeant Kate Blackwell, from Dalgety Bay Police Station, said: “The chapel had previously been derelict until a major renovation in 2015, at a considerable expense.

“It is therefore extremely disappointing that anyone would look to subject this beautiful building to such unnecessary and extensive damage.

“Since this matter was reported to us we have been conducting numerous lines of inquiry to identify the culprits and we are now eager to hear from anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in the area over the May Day weekend.

“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation should also contact police immediately.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
