TWO girls from Dalgety Bay will dance in front of the Royal Family at a huge street party on Sunday to mark The Queen's 90th birthday.

Poppy Mitchell and Niamh Molloy, who are students at The Dance Academy in the town, will show off their talent live on TV in London at the official Patron's Lunch.

Principal Julie Sinclair said they were "absolutely thrilled" to have been chosen and added: "The girls have known for a few weeks but were unable to tell anyone until passing through the strict security process which enables them to enter the official ceremony."

The Patron's Lunch will celebrate the Queen’s patronage of over 600 charities and organisations and the event will be broadcast live on BBC 1.

There will be 10,000 guests with tables along the full length of The Mall and, as part of the celebrations, 300 youngsters from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and their teachers will be performing, with choreography handed down from RAD artistic director, Lynn Wallis OBE.

Julie said: "We are full of pride and excitement at being chosen by the RAD to represent them and to be part of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

"The details surrounding the themes, music, costume and choreography and the finale are still strictly confidential, but we can tell you each segment is themed and key movements within the choreography reflect the theme.

"It has been choreographed so that it will look amazing en masse. We have had some secret rehearsals and are now fully ready to take to the streets and perform."

The girls will travel to London with their teacher and also have tickets to see Charlie & the Chocolate Factory at the theatre – "very fitting as it appears this time they won the golden ticket," the Dance Academy principal smiled.
