POPULAR music festival PKD is to stay in Dalgety Bay after all following an agreement with the Fife Sports and Leisure Trust.

It looked certain next year's event would have to move from its current home at the town's sports centre after the trust confirmed a ban on alcohol being sold or drunk on its premises.

But one of the organisers, Mark Bennett, said he was delighted to confirm that the festival, which was recently nominated for a top award ahead of events like T in the Park and Rewind, will be staying put.

"After intense negotiations with centre staff and area management, an agreement has been reached," he told the Press. "The festival will go ahead.

"It is with great pride and great privilege that PKD 2017 will remain at Dalgety Bay Sports and Leisure Centre. We are ecstatic and over the moon that we have not got to move it."

After a stressful few months caused by the uncertainty of the event's location, organisers can now concentrate on the actual event and tickets went on sale on Wednesday.

"Thanks to everyone who contacted everywhere and tried to get us a home. It had been hard work, very stressful and emotionally breaking," added Mark.

"Negotiations are going forward with some big bands. Every year since day one, we have been bigger and better and 2017 will be no different. The weight is off our shoulders and now we can start planning."

A Fife Sports and Leisure Trust spokesperson confirmed the trust was in talks with the organisers of the PKD Festival with a view to hosting the 2017 event at Dalgety Bay Sports Centre.

She added: "There has been no change to the trust’s policy in allowing alcohol to be sold or consumed at its facilities."
