IRISH girl group B*Witched are heading to West Fife next year to perform in Dalgety Bay’s PKD Festival.

The group is the latest act to be announced, with further announcements due over the next few months.

One of the event’s organisers, Mark Bennett, was delighted with the latest addition to the line-up.

“When we announced it on Facebook we had 32,000 hits – we have never received more than 6,000 hits,” he said. “We have had an overwhelming response to B*Witched and that is only one of the major bands.”

The band had hits in the nineties with C’est La Vie and Blame it on the Weatherman, but Mark says they now perform a lot of new material too.

“Their new stuff is very good. It is very Celtic-sounding,” he added.

Mark and his team were in Glasgow at the weekend for the finals of the 2016 Scottish Outdoor and Leisure Awards Best Festival Award.

Having beaten festivals including T in the Park and Rewind, they lost out to Party in the Palace for the coveted title.

“This local festival started on a field nine years ago and we were there sitting in the same room as Party in the Palace,” said Mark.

“Winning would have been great but look at who we were up against. We can turn round and say we were a finalist in the Scottish Outdoor Leisure Awards and it has been the general public who voted for us. It is the general public who have said that we are better than other festivals.”

Next year’s festival is due to take place on Saturday, July 15.
