AN ASPIRING stage star from Dalgety Bay has earned his place as part of Scottish Youth Theatre’s national ensemble.

Dan Webb, 20, was selected for the line-up of emerging talents after auditioning with more than 130 other young performers.

His love of acting was visible from an early age as he was cast as the Lion in the Wizard of Oz, and Fagin in Oliver, in his school’s plays.

This isn’t Dan’s first pairing with the Scottish Youth Theatre, however, as he previously starred in their satirical show, ‘Now’s the Hour’.

He was delighted to be selected once again along with 23 other upcoming actors and said: “When I was told that I had been accepted to the National Ensemble I was over the moon, I’m so excited to be working with new theatre-makers from around Scotland and I’m very intrigued at the idea of travelling around Scotland for the workshops.

“My main interests are acting and singing so I could not be happier that I’ve been accepted to be part of this fantastic opportunity and very much look forward to being a part of the company.”

He now has a busy year ahead, taking part in eight development weekends throughout the year and five weeks in the summer which will culminate in a performance in August.

His commitment will be rewarded with workshops, question-and-answer sessions and training from some of the most admired directors, actors, designers, choreographers and writers working in theatre today.
