A DALGETY BAY man had 621 indecent images of children in his possession.

Darin McQuillan, 44, of The Moorings, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court last Wednesday.

He previously admitted that between November 29, 2016, and January 12 of this year, at an address in Dalgety Bay or elsewhere, he did take or permit to be taken or make indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.

His solicitor, Stephen Morrison, told the court that 620 of the images had been deemed as category C and one as a category B image.
A category B image depicts a non-penetrative sexual assault.

“Mr McQuillan has no previous convictions,” Mr Morrison said.

“He has fully engaged with the ‘Stop it Now’ course which has given him further insight into his difficulties.

“His marriage has broken down and he has supervised contact with his child.”

Sheriff Craig McSherry placed McQuillan on a community payback order with a requirement of 12 months’ supervision.

He was also made subject to conduct requirements which include having no deliberate contact with children under 16 and he will be placed on the sex offenders’ register for 12 months.
