A DALGETY Bay family filled the whole of their grandparents’ living room with goodies to surprise children who are in hospital this Christmas.

Nichola Fyfe, husband David and their three children, Alex, Jorgie and Derryn, have collected more than 700 selection boxes and pocket toys to light up the faces of patients at the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh.

The Fyfe family featured in the Press in November to mark the 10th anniversary of their twin son Callan’s death and celebrate the £25,000 they’ve raised since in his memory.

Nichola said: “There’s been a lot of positive publicity since we were in the Press and now my mum’s living room is full of presents. She’s in Tenerife and I told her we’re just using her house for some storage! There’s so much stuff that I’ve stopped counting.”

Businesses across West Fife have been collecting for the Fyfe’s including Dalgety Bay’s Tesco. The appeal has been so successful that a transit van is now needed to deliver the goodies to Edinburgh.

“It just gets bigger and bigger each year,” Nichola continued. I first thought that we could get a selection box for the 100 beds that could be occupied on Christmas day and now the hospital has to turn away other collections because there’s too much!

“They have enough selection boxes to hand out over the whole of December.

“Our children are really involved and it’s so nice to see them giving back at such a young age. I think it’s important for them and they remember their brother in the process.”
