A former Inverkeithing High pupil has changed his life by taking a leap of faith and getting help with the stammer that has held him back.

Thomas Heathcote, 18, from Dalgety Bay has had a stutter since the age of three and has let the condition keep him back from getting his dream job in the construction industry.

But after being inspired by ITV's 'School for Stammerers' he signed himself on to the McGuire Programme - a four-day intensive course - which helps people control their speech and speak more fluently.

Encouraged by his coaches, he rang the Press to take another brave step, sharing his story with our readers.

Thomas, who works at Monterey Jack's in Dunfermline, told the Press: "I wasn't living my life so after seeing the TV show, it finally inspired me to go on the course.

"It's changed my life because I really want to get to a full-time apprenticeship but when I go to interviews they think I'm stupid.

"I used to shy away from things but the programme has taught me confidence.

"I believe that there is a lot of people like me in Fife and I want to inspire them to go and do it too."
