ROLL up, roll up ... magicians, clowns, acrobats, wrestlers and even a giant bunny on a bike were in town as ‘The Circus’ arrived at Dalgety Bay and Hillend Gala on Saturday.

The dreich weather failed to stop visitors and residents coming out to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment at the Dalgety Bay Sports Centre.

The Royal British Legion Riders – one carrying the giant rabbit from magician duo Damo and Marvo – led off the procession from Dalgety Parish Church, followed by the royal party in classic limos and community groups.

Down at the field, there was plenty of Highland dancing from Gilda’s School of Dance and the Samantha McKenzie School of Highland Dancing, martial arts displays from Gary Lee Martial Arts and JKA Karate and gymnastic performances from Acrobay.

Professional sports team World Wide Wrestling League held court in their ring and there were zumba taster sessions, kids’ football, inflatables and a fancy dress competition.

Numerous community, craft and food stalls offered wares at the ‘Emporium’ marquee, with music laid on by Radio West Fife as well as the NOTEables community choir.

The fun had kicked off on Friday with the ‘Circus Extravaganza’ party night in the centre, with dancing and face-painting as well as music from West Fife bands Second Stages and Half Built House.

Gala chair Julie Morrice said, “The party was sensational, the weather was fabulous and the bands were phenomenal.

“We had a good turnout on Saturday despite the weather. The marquee was absolutely buzzing even before the rain started. We had a good mix of stalls and there was a really nice community atmosphere.

“A lot of the community stalls did really well and despite the rain everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.

“We had Damo and Marvo but also Cameron Young who did magic tricks on Friday and Saturday – he’s just 16!

“A special thanks to all our volunteers and everybody who came to support us, Dave Young and friends for the limos, Donibristle Skip Hire and Young Joinery who helped us keep the park clean.”
