A WHEELY good time is in store when the second Dalgety Bay Bike Festival kicks off on Saturday.

To be held at the town’s sailing club, the one-day event, to be held from noon to 4pm, will offer plenty of activities for novices and experts alike.

There will be a group-led family and Ladies Only ride, an adventure timber trail, mountain biking in the woods at Braefoot Brae, as well as stalls, a barbecue and home baking, plus entertainment by local band Second Stage.

Sandy Wallace Cycles, MTBflo and Talking Tandems, the West Fife cycling club for the blind and visually impaired, will be on hand for advice and bike checks, while the police will be offering bike security marking.

Visitors can try out a turbo trainer and there will be Nintendo Wii games for the younger ones.

Last year’s inaugural festival attracted around 150 visitors and organising committee chair Neil Drummond is hoping more West Fifers will turn out – and for good weather!

He said, “People did say it was great last year and people with kids had a great time.

“We were a bit unlucky with the weather because it was bucketing down between 12-3pm but people didn’t let that put them off! Fingers crossed we will have better weather this year.

“We’re having the timber trail again, which was a big attraction for the kids last year.

“There are limited places for the mountain bike and group rides – registration on the day is on a first come, first served basis.” For more information, log on to www.cyclingdalgetybay.org.uk.
