GET ready for some vroom in Dalgety Bay at the Pushkart Derby family fun day on Sunday!

The much-anticipated race was due to be held at the Pushkart Derby (PKD) festival in July but the wheels came off the event after a lorry ripped a pothole on the circuit’s home straight.

Although the rest of the festival went ahead, the race was postponed due to safety fears but will now make a return on a grass course at the Dalgety Bay Sailing Club.

The day will be in aid of Donibristle Primary School and nursery, and will feature kids’ rides, bouncy castles and bungee runs, with the sailing club laying on boat rides.

There will also be food, crafts and community stalls, and the Poppyscotland motorbike is sure to turn heads in aid of War-Torn Troops Remembered.

PKD organiser Mark Bennett said, “The sailing club have very kindly donated the whole inside grounds to us.

“Everyone was disappointed when the race was cancelled but it’s on now, and if this works out it may well be that we put on the PKD festival and the PKD family fun day.

“The race is going to be on the grass – they’ve cut the grass down and created a track.

“We’ve got about a dozen entries, all of them weird and wonderful, but the whole idea is for families to have fun, the race has taken a back seat for the meantime.

“There’ll probably be a supermarket trolley as usual – there always is one!” The PKD family fun day will be held at noon-4pm. Entering a pushkart costs £10 and is open up until the day – just turn up with a kart at 11am.
