DALGETY BAY families are aiming to raise £150,000 to revamp a kids’ playpark outside Dalgety Bay Primary School.

The park, located next to Inchview Gardens, consists of two slides, a set of swings and two small climbing frames but parents think work needs to be done to make it better for the kids.

Julie Lesley, one of the committee members who is trying to improve the park, said, “I wanted to get involved in the opportunity to improve the facilities as I have young kids myself.

“It’s really run down – it’s mostly wooden equipment and it’s fallen into a state of disrepair. It’s a pretty basic park compared to some in the surrounding area.

“We’ve applied for grants and gone to local businesses to see if they can help us out. We’ve already had a consultation with the two primary schools in Dalgety Bay as well as the local residents to see what they’d like to see. The kids want a flying fox but I’m not sure the residents would be as keen!” The residents committee’s project is now a registered charity and is aiming to raise around £150,000 for the project. They are hoping to get a significant portion of the funds from grants but are also fund-raising to try to raise money. This weekend, the group are holding a kids car boot sale and coffee morning.

“We’ve got somebody from Little Beans soft play coming along to the coffee morning with stuff for the kids and we’re having a raffle for a luxury hamper which has been donated by Springfield Homes,” added Julie.

The car boot sale and coffee morning is taking place on Saturday at Dalgety Bay Parish Church between 10am-12pm.
