DALGETY Bay will be rockin’ this summer as Big Country, Bruce Foxton, From The Jam, Animals & Friends and a slew of big names are set to perform this summer!

The legends are set to grace the stage at this year’s PKD Festival, and music fans will be thrilled to know that the line-up also includes Kirsten Adamson – daughter of Stuart – Blue Delta, xSimple Minds, Neil Diamond impersonator Tam Scott, Emerald Sunday, Amber Road, The Session, Steeler, Freebird, River Runs Red, David Mutch and Shameless.

The festival, which will be held on 25th July, will feature the East Coast Bike Show, fun fair, kids’ zone and market, and will be in aid of charity Kingdom Kids.

Organiser Mark Bennett could not contain his excitement when he spoke to the Press, saying, “I’m jumping up and down in excitement.

“We’re getting all this big-name rock star entertainment. Bruce Foxton is playing at the Rewind Festival and closing PKD!

“When we said we wanted to book Big Country last year, a lot of people said, ‘But you’re just a little charity festival’. Some even called us a gala!

“All this is for children in Fife, and bands that don’t even live in Fife are happy to come and help raise money – Tam Scott from Aberdeen has been doing a show for us since the beginning.” However, this year’s edition will be “a bit different”: the festival has moved location, it’s selling tickets and there’ll be free unlimited entertainment for kids to enjoy.

Mark continued, “We’re growing and each year it gets bigger and bigger. It was time to move.

“We’re in a bigger venue – the Dalgety Bay Sports and Leisure Centre which is five times bigger.

“Forth Dimensions have been fantastic in allowing us to use their grounds the last three years but with the addition of the extra bands, more big names coming, it was coming.

“The new venue is just immense and we could probably stay here for the next five years.

“We’re selling tickets for £20, but under-16s go free, and we also have 9m by 3m corporate boxes.

“We used to have bouncy castles, now we’re having a fun-fair with waltzers and carousels, and it’s all free!” The Bay Inn is also running a competition offering £5 off tickets, and festival is already attracting plenty of interest.

Mark beamed, “Motorcycle shops are coming up from as far as Nottingham and booking a stall and showing off their bikes – this is only place in the east of Scotland where they can show any type of bike.

“We’re getting inundated with requests from scooter clubs and the Mods are wishing to come as well, because of the association between Bruce Foxton and Paul Weller.

“We started out with a disused factory and 500 people, last year we had monsoon weather and 2500 people in the pouring rain.

“It’s grown and it’s going to get bigger. The aim is to create a festival that not only benefits the community, but creates a happy feeling in the community.” Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.co.uk. For further information, log on to www.pkdfestival.com
