Little did those original residents know that their town would become a thriving community that’s now among the most populated in Fife.

Fast-forward to 2015 and friends, family and staff at Dalgety Bay Bowling Club have celebrated this 50th anniversary.

With a swinging 60s theme, a party was thrown along with a special match to help mark the incredible milestone .

Club president Linda Pearson said, “It was a really enjoyable fun day. Most of the members took the whole spirit of the day on board and we had a 60s tribute band, China Blue, on in the evening as well!

“All the members brought food and we had a buffet and played six games of bowls, took a break and played some more.

“It was a great way to remember that Dalgety Bay is now 50 years old.” There were some groovy outfits on show too, with guests encouraged to dress up for the occasion.

With flares, handlebar moustaches and plenty of flower power, everybody involved seemed to enjoy the chance to relive the past – Billy Worthing, in his cravat and lime green suit, was named best dressed adult, while Alex Meade took the junior title with her ‘60s chick’ look.

There was even some 60s music from tribute band China Blue, who had the dancefloor filled with all the favourite hits from yesteryear.

And no birthday party would be incomplete without cake.

The centrepiece of the jubilee celebrations was donated by Stephanie and Ray Walker, who themselves were enjoying their 40th wedding anniversary.
