Around 3000 visitors turned out to enjoy a family-friendly day of music and motors at the festival, which was held at its new home, the town’s sport and leisure centre.

Also among the star-studded line-up taking to the stage were Kirsten Adamson – the daughter of former Big Country lead singer Stuart – Blue Delta, Neil Diamond impersonator Tam Scott, Emerald Sunday, Amber Road, The Session, Steeler, Freebird, River Runs Red, David Mutch, Shameless, Sorella, Paul Thorpe, Clark N Boj, Forever Young and Mixed Bag.

Ticket sales were brisk for the popular event, which was in aid of charity Kingdom Kids.

A motor show – featuring a wide range of motorbikes and scooters, plus classic cars and lorries – added plenty of vroom, and there was also a fun fair, kids’ zone and community market.

Organiser Mark Bennett told the Press, “I’m very pleased with the line-up this year. They may be superstars but they treated all the staff and volunteers very well and with respect.

“Bruce Foxton of From The Jam and Owen Paul of xSimple Minds were just lovely. They were down-to-earth, polite, really nice guys and absolute gentlemen.

“The motor show was a great thing for petrolheads, there were Lambrettas, American cars from the 1950s and 1960s and beautiful, massive, articulated lorries.

“The kids’ zone was completely free for inflatables, with a nominal charge for fairground rides.” Mark said the feedback had beeen “amazing – we’ve run out of superlatives” and preparations are already under way for next year’s festival.

He added, “People are already asking – we’re probably going to do an August flash sale for the same prices this year!

“The corporate boxes were completely sold out. Those who had the vision of what we are building snapped them up; those who said ‘Oh, we’ll wait and see’ wished they had bought them!” He thanked all the performers, visitors and volunteers, adding, “Special thanks to Josh Ford; Becca Morrison; the Miller family of Cowdenbeath; Niall McCall and family; the ‘two Pauls’; and Gee the rubbish man, who had the whole site cleared up by noon for free on Sunday.” A T-shirt, signed by all the performers, is also expected to be auctioned online soon in aid of Kingdom Kids.
