After living in Glasgow for years, Norman Milne (61) moved back to the Bay when he was diagnosed with lymphoma and luckily remembered to swap his postcode. Having signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery around four years ago, he was both shocked and delighted to be told he had won.
“I feel a lot happier now,” he said. “I was playing with my old postcode in Glasgow for years but had to move back to Dalgety Bay because of my illness. Luckily, I remembered to change the postcode I played with. I can’t believe I’ve won £25,000.” Former financial advisor Norman has not been able to work due to his condition and was given just 12 months to live in December last year.
“Life can be funny sometimes,” he said. “But I try to keep a positive attitude and am looking to book something special for my mum and sister at the end of the year with my winnings. I’ve been looking at Gleneagles.” One local project supported by postcode lottery players is Abbeyview Kids Club, which aims to offer play opportunities to local children between the ages of five and 15 regardless of individual circumstances.
The club was awarded £1170 to provide local trips to community parks for the children within the summer holidays.
