IT’s one of the biggest companies on the planet and recently Amazon celebrated its 20th anniversary.

To help mark this special birthday, staff at the Dunfermline fulfilment centre in Duloch went a little south of the border with a Mexican-themed fiesta.

Donning sombreros, the team took part in the celebrations with their counterparts all over the world.

Among the birthday treats were impromptu piñatas, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and a competition for the best costume.

The two-decade anniversary, which took place on 15th July, was marked around the world with Amazon’s Prime Day.

The company offered a wide range of promotions, deals and special offers to customers of their Amazon Prime service.

Figures from the day released by Amazon show that customers ordered 34.4million items across Prime-eligible countries, with 389 items ordered per second.

The Dunfermline operation, which opened in 2011, was part of this record-breaking sales event, with items leaving the centre for the rest of the UK, Europe and around the world.

Gavin Morrison, general manager of the Dunfermline centre, said, “Prime Day in Dunfermline was a fantastic success and myself and my team are delighted to have played a part in helping break a global sales record.”
