A FAMILY of swans who made themselves at home in a Dunfermline garden have been returned to their pond thanks to the Scottish SPCA.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted after eight birds were spotted walking down Tern Road on Friday.

Animal rescue officer Stacey Jamieson was able to round-up the swans with the help of locals before taking them back to their home at Duloch Park.

Stacey said, “It’s really surprising all eight swans managed to get to Tern Road from Duloch Park as they would have had to cross a busy main road.

“Thankfully, the two adults and six cygnets were unharmed and had settled quite happily in someone’s front garden when I arrived.

“I’d like to thank the people who gave me assistance. Three people in particular were of great help to me and I wouldn’t have been able to manage without them.

“It’s heartening to know there are plenty of animal lovers willing to help in situations like this and the rescue put a bit of a smile on my face.

“I was able to release the swans back at the pond the same afternoon so here’s hoping they’ve all had enough of an adventure for the time being.”
