THE POLICE have responded to complaints that there has been no progress in resolving recent anti-social behaviour issues in Duloch.

A police spokesman said, “We are aware of the ongoing complaints of an anti-social nature in the Duloch area.

"This area has been on the radar for a number of years. Police have worked along with our partner agencies and been involved in Twilight Football and Twilight Basketball. We have attended and carried out local school talks with a view of providing advice and assistance.

“By working with our partners, together we have been able to provide support and assistance not only to those found under the influence of alcohol and drugs but also to their families so they can assist, so as to provide the necessary education and care. Where appropriate, fixed penalty tickets have been issued and those responsible for other offences have been charged.

“The above actions have assisted in a year-on-year, 30 per cent reduction of anti-social complaints in the Duloch area.

"We are aware that from September to December, like in many places, youth anti-social behaviour increases due to the darker nights.

"Where possible, we try and address all the areas with high-visibility patrols, especially on a Friday or Saturday night.

“Whilst the size of the reduction is considerable, we are not complacent. We need the assistance of the public to report matters so we can allocate the appropriate resources and learn of new trends or issues.

“We also need the help of parents and carers, they need to be aware of where their teenagers actually are and have a knowledge of what they are really doing.”
