DULOCH Library took on a magical feel last Thursday as it hosted a Harry Potter book night.

ide book night and saw kids dressing up as their favourite characters and enjoying quizzes, games, crafts and prizes.

Sharron Brown, from the library’s child development team, said, “I went along with my two sons and it was a really well-attended event. It sold out pretty early. It was wonderful because most of the people there were boys – they are hard to reach and are reluctant readers.

“We had Harry Potters, a Ron Weasley and a few young witches. Lots of kids came dressed up and there was a prize for best-dressed. There was a treasure hunt and a general knowledge quiz on the Harry Potter books. The quiz went to a tie-breaker between Slytherin and Gryffindor and Slytherin won. It’s the first time they’ve done an event like this and everybody had a great night. We’re looking to do it again on a bigger scale, take it out to other libraries and maybe even have an adult Harry Potter night.

“Special thanks should go to the teen reading group at Duloch who got on board and helped organise it.

“Ailsa Gormley and Julia Dyke from the library should be thanked for their hard work.”
