A DUNFERMLINE family have been left seething after claiming they’ve been scammed by an online company who they feel had no intention of delivering their son’s Christmas present.

Mum Kirsty Riddell forked out £383.99 for a Playstation virtual reality headset and camera from Savvibuy on November 28 but she is still waiting for a refund on the gift they didn’t deliver.

The online toy retailer’s website has been taken down and customers have been told that the company will not be issuing refunds for delivery delays.

Kirsty said: “The stress that Savvibuy have caused has heavily affected me and my family. I suffer from fibromyalgia and this has brought on a flare.

“I’ve spent most of Christmas ill in bed. I feel like I’ve missed all the family time with my kids all brought on by the stress caused by Savvibuy.

“My husband was made redundant in November so we need that money. Now they’ve told us that we have to claim a chargeback from our bank but there’s no guarantee that we will get it back.”

Kirsty and her family are just one of dozens of unsatisfied Savvibuy customers who did not receive their orders in time for Christmas.

She added: “My email confirmation said the goods would be delivered between November 8 and 12 but when that date arrived we received another email to say that deliveries were 72 hours behind schedule. Again we waited.

“Then they said they would guarantee all deliveries would be made by December 23 but that day came and went as well.

“I ordered from Savvibuy because I thought that it was a reputable company. The Playstation sets were out of stock everywhere else I tried so it seemed like it was a good deal.”

A Facebook page with more than 4,000 members was set up for unsatisfied Savvibuy customers but at the time of writing the group had been abandoned.

Michelle Christie, a Fife resident and administrator of the social media group, said: “Savvibuy are trading under the name Advance Technologies from an address in Rochdale, the same premises of a company that went into liquidation back in 2012.

“They also ran a segway company last Christmas that was reported all over the media for their dangerous faulty products.

“Trading standards and the police have been sent thousands of complaints but we’re not getting any help or reply. Just how many complaints does it take before this becomes a criminal problem?”

Dawn Adamson, Fife Trading Standards, said: “We would advise any Fifers who have had a bad experience with Savvibuy to contact Citizens Advice.

“As the company is not based in Fife, the relevant Trading Standards authority need to be made aware of the situation to consider any relevant enforcement action.

“We will alert Rochdale Council about this business. It will then be up to them to investigate and alert the local police if they consider it appropriate.”

The Press tried to contact Savvibuy via its stated website and email addresses but without success.
