A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy has been left traumatised after an electric shock burnt his hand.

Dylan Culbert had to be rushed to hospital from switching on a light in his house in Bellyeoman last weekend.

Mum Heather Macmichael told the Press: “He let out the most horrible scream you have ever heard. Our daughter, Rebecca, was in so much shock that she just cried.

“He burnt his hand and it’s still red.

“He’s not sleeping well at all, only managing a couple of hours a night and refusing to switch on any lights.”

The family home on Adamson Crescent in Dunfermline is owned by housing association Ore Valley Housing.

Heather and partner Gordon say they have had problems with the electrics since they moved into the property in 2013.

Dylan’s mum continued: “We complained for six months that certain sockets weren’t working properly. We had been smelling something funny for a while and that’s because an electricity box wasn’t connected properly.”

Colin McInnes, housing manager for Ore Valley Housing, said: “This was a terrible incident and we never want something like this to happen. The incident was reported as an emergency and we arrived at the property within the hour.

“The electrician found that the circuit for the switch that caused the shock to the little boy had a fault on it. He then spent the next three hours replacing all the circuits on that section of the house.

“The original work was carried out in November 2015 and somewhere between then and now the fault has happened on a cable.

“It is impossible to know when that exactly was but work was carried out properly at that time.

“We will do everything we can to ensure that the family are supported in their home and to make sure they are OK.”
