An off-duty police officer apprehended a shoplifter after he was caught stealing from M&S in the Kingsgate shopping centre this afternoon.
The officer called for back-up when he was struggling to detain the person.
Witnesses saw five police vehicles driving with sirens down East Port at around 3.30pm this afternoon (Tuesday).
Police confirmed that no force was used on arrival to the Kingsgate as the shoplifter was calm and caused no issues.
