Police found drugs valued at £5,800 during a raid on a Dunfermline home.

Sean Maginnis, 27, of Chapelwell Place, returned to the town’s sheriff court for sentencing.

He previously admitted that on April 6 last year at Broomhead Drive, he was concerned in the supply of cannabis resin to others.

Depute fiscal Alex Piper told the court that police were granted a search warrant and were allowed entry by Maginnis.

They then found the drugs.

Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said the drugs did not belong to his client and he was holding them for someone else.

“He accepts he was part of the chain. He was smoking a lot of cannabis and as a way of paying for it he was holding these drugs.

“The police were not there searching for drugs but for an air gun that had been reported to them,” added the solicitor.

Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a community payback order with 300 hours of unpaid work and a six-month restriction of liberty order.
