SECTIONS of Pilmuir Street in Dunfermline will close during the Easter holidays for £130,000 resurfacing works.

Fife Council will start on site on Monday April 3 with new tarmac for the A823 between Winterthur Lane and Broomhead Drive.

The work, postponed from last summer, should take two weeks and there will be a phased road closure with diversions in place.

David Brown, the council's service manager for network management, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience and delay caused by these essential works, and we will try to keep any disturbance to a minimum.

"Your patience and co-operation during this time is greatly appreciated.”

Phase one will see Pilmuir Street closed between Winterthur Lane and Lady Campbells Court.

The second phase will see the section from Lady Campbells Court to Broomhead Drive closed.

The closures will remain in place at all times during the works with a signed diversion route in effect.

During phase two traffic from Victoria Street and Victoria Terrace will not be able to access Pilmuir Street.

Access will be maintained at all times for emergency services and business deliveries, and for residents on Pilmuir Street between 4.30pm and 7am.

Where residents require special access during the working day they should contact Mark Burns on 03451 55 55 55 extension 493674.

Mr Brown added: "We maintain over 2,400 km of roads in Fife and we are investing nearly £10 million this year repairing and improving them.

“Our road network is vital to support economic development, inward investment, tourism, leisure and travel to work.

"Almost everyone in Fife uses our roads on a daily basis, which is why this type of maintenance work is so essential.”
