A VIOLENT assault outside a Dunfermline nightclub was captured on CCTV and shown in court.
The video showed James Lumsden talking to the intoxicated victim and asking him for a cigarette before launching the brutal attack.
The helpless man was punched seven times in quick succession and was left slumped against a wall.
Lumsden, 33, of Erskine Beveridge Court, St Leonard's Court, Dunfermline, was in the dock at the town’s sheriff court.
He admitted that on October 18 last year at Life nightclub, Kirkgate, he assaulted a man by repeatedly punching him on the head to his injury.
Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said the victim suffered a cut to the back of his head and was taken by ambulance to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment.
He told police he was not sure how he was injured and thought he may have fallen or been hit by someone.
Defence solicitor Selina Mackay said some words had been exchanged between the two in the nightclub earlier that night.
Sheriff Robert Dickson fined Lumsden £1,000.
