TOWNHILL’S On Pointe performing arts school have proven they’re on top form by winning a national competition.

After several groups of dancers made it straight through to the auditions of ‘Stars of Scotland’, three went on to win in the grand final.

Elite dance group ‘The Instinct’ were overall winners, while Emma Mcmanus, Emily Cook and Shannon West won the Trio Category and Cerys Perry was the solo winner.

Syrian Mckenna, principle of On Pointe, said: “They were just ecstatic and for all the girls in Instinct it was the icing on top of the cake.

"Our journey has been up and down since we started but recently we have come into our own. It’s nice to get this boost.”

The performers have had a fantastic run in recent months, after headlining at the Alton Towers Halloween show, they were invited to perform at the Hard Rock Cafe on Broadway.

One member of the group, 11 year-old Ava Holding, from Lochgelly, has also hit the big time after she was asked to perform on Justin Bieber’s Purpose tour at the O2 arena in London.

Syrian continued: “We get approached by the industry to do more things as a group rather than individually.

"When the girls attend school too it can be quite challenging but we’ve got a few exciting things lined up in the future.

"We’re trying to fundraise for a trip to New York and we have a massive workshop happening on Easter Sunday with Xfactor choreographers and the guys from BBC show ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’.”
