THE skyline of Dunfermline will be the theme of the latest exhibition on show at Fire Station Creative.

The gallery’s in-house textile designer Claire Christie will display her latest work in a celebration of local architecture.

Claire has been based at the venue since it opened and from there, as well as designing her works of art, she runs creative sewing classes.

Originally from Paisley, the talented artist studied printed textiles and surface pattern at Glasgow School of Art and moved to Dunfermline around 12 years ago.

“The reason I am interested in architecture is my studio here at the Fire Station Creative looks out over the Dunfermline skyline,” she explained.

“It has been this skyline, its patterns, shapes and rhythms that have inspired this new collection of printed textiles.

“Dunfermline’s architectural wealth grew up out of linen production, it has such a diverse and rich heritage with buildings intact from many different eras.

“I have drawn inspiration from grand buildings, such as our wonderful City Chambers, to everyday working buildings such as the butchers on the High Street. It is my hope that people will ‘look up’ more and appreciate our lovely town with all its architectural diversity.”

The exhibition will run until April 30. More information on Claire’s work and her sewing classes can be found at www.clarabellachristie.co.uk.
