The first photograph in this week's trip down Memory Lane is a view looking up past the Abbey Tavern (now the Creepy Wee Pub) and the Old Inn towards the building that preceded the present City Chambers.
The second image shows the cannon being moved in the early 1940's outside the City Chambers where it still is situated today. It was at one stage used as a way of preventing damage to the prestigious building from vehicles manoeuvring around the junction.
The next image is a view of the junction of High Street and the New Row with businesses such as Graftons and Grants occupying the area that is now the entrance to Marks and Spencer and the Kingsgate Shopping Centre.
Dunfermline was once home to many breweries and the final photograph shows the workers at one of them, James Brown and Son.
More photographs like these can be seen at the next showing of 'Old Dunfermline' in the Carnegie Hall on Wednesday May 24.
These events are supported by Stephens the baker and by the Dunfermline Press. You can also see similar images at facebook.com/olddunfermline and also in the Local Studies Department at St Margaret's House at 9 St Margaret's Street.
