CUTENESS was in abundance at Touch Primary School’s nursery with the hatching of some Easter chicks.

A total of nine new arrivals were welcomed into the world and youngsters have been busy looking after their new fluffy friends.

Headteacher Katrina Miller said they had previously had butterflies or tadpoles in but this year decided the chicks would be a good idea.

She explained: “They came to us on the Monday and started hatching on the Wednesday so there were a couple of days of excitement when the children thought about what might come from the eggs.

“Having decided it would be chicks, they then started choosing different names they thought they might have for them.”

The new arrivals, who arrived before the Easter holidays, were given a range of names from Fluffy and Snuggly to Jayden and Charlie.

“They have loved it,” she added.

“They have been so excited and, as well as seeing the whole process of them hatching, they are very quick growing so they can already see their wing feathers and tail feathers coming in so the children can see that growth.

“They have also had to be very gentle and quiet and think about all the things they need to be healthy and well and are thinking about how we look after each other.”
