A DUNFERMLINE woman who stole from Tesco and subsequently assaulted a police officer has been jailed for four months.

A Tesco security officer immediately recognised Leona Reynolds and monitored her movements on CCTV at about 10.20pm last Tuesday evening.

She was then found putting items in a plastic bag and attempting to walk through security.

When police came to arrest her, she struggled with them and headbutted an officer.

Reynolds, 32, of Glen Bridge Court, admitted that May 2 at Tesco Stores, Winterthur Lane, she did steal a quantity of alcohol, clothing and assaulted a police officer in the execution of her duty and repeatedly attempted to butt her on the head.

Defence solicitor Sarah Meehan said: "My client appreciates the seriousness of the circumstances but these offences were committed under the influence of alcohol.

"She has a substantial record before the court and was released from custody in November. She was doing well until this matter but it appears that custody is doing nothing to deter her. The sum of £54.50 was recovered."
