A GIANT Oor Wullie will go on display as part of the next exhibition at Fire Station Creative in Dunfermline.

The model, to be decorated by FSC artist Vanessa Gibson, is temporarily on loan from the owner, Tokheim Ltd in Dundee.

Oor Wullie, the iconic wee Scottish laddie from the fictional town of Auchenshoogle, and The Broons are much loved cartoon strips that have appeared in the Sunday Post for more than 80 years.

Last year's bucket trail saw Wullie art works placed around the Dundee area and beyond, with an auction of the figures almost £900,000 for charity.

The model will be part of the annual summer exhibition where Fire Station Creative’ in house talent of jewellers, painters, designers, photographers and other craftspeople will display their most recent work.

In the gallery, at ground level, the show titled 'Upstairs Downstairs: 2017’ will celebrate the variety of skills that exist above in the studios, previously used as offices and bedrooms by the Fife Fire and Rescue Service.

This exhibition opens on Friday May 19 and leads right up to the bi-annual Open Studios weekend at the beginning of June.

Gallery curator, Ian Moir, said: “Our 20 studios are fully occupied with over 30 creatives, many of whom are full time.

"This group show is always notable for the high calibre of the work and shows the public, in large part, what our charity aims to support – local talent.”

Paula Graham, whose business is called Porcupine Upholstery, said: "After almost two years of working in my studio at Fire Station Creative, I am excited to start work as soon as I open the door.

"I love having this opportunity to exhibit alongside the other artists and show the public our hugely diverse range of work"
